Welcome to the Chester Wallingford Chapter!

The American Red Cross is restructuring the delivery of disaster and humanitarian services in the Chester-Wallingford area. We are implementing organizational changes that reaffirm our commitment to this community and which will enable us to reach even more people in need. These changes are designed to improve our service delivery and the care we provide to your community. Your understanding of these changes is important as your continued support of and involvement with the Red Cross is critical to our ability to serve those in need in the Chester-Wallingford community.

We have embarked on a transformation of our organization to allow us to be more effective and efficient. As of July 1st, the Chester-Wallingford Chapter has been fully integrated into the Southeastern Pennsylvania Region. SEPA chapter is headquartered at 2221 Chestnut Street in Philadelphia. The Chester-Wallingford office will close by July 31, 2011 and will be occupied by another community organization. Volunteers will work out of donated space during a time of disaster. Classes will likewise be taught in donated space.

This new structure allows us quicker access to resources, particularly when disaster strikes and further improves our ability to help those in need. The Chester-Wallingford community will now be served by more than 5,000 volunteers, 1200 instructors authorized to teach Red Cross programs, and the capacity to shelter 26,000 people. It also creates more opportunities for donors, volunteers, and community partners to become engaged with our work in the community.

This transition will be seamless. We will continue to provide core, humanitarian services including: relief for disaster victims, assistance to military families, and a spectrum of preparedness classes including CPR and swimming lessons. Behind the scenes we will be working more efficiently and sharing responsibilities to maximize the use of donor dollars to serve more people and improve the outcomes for our clients.
